Thank you for your interest in having your wedding reception at Tekarra Restaurant. The Tekarra property in Jasper National Park is beautifully located overlooking the confluence of the Athabasca and Miette Rivers. The ridge above the rivers is a natural location for wedding ceremonies. Tekarra Restaurant is Jasper‘s premier dinning destination offering fabulous local cuisine with sincere service. If you choose to book with us, you are making a commitment to your guests to offer them the best dining experience possible as well as having a private venue. The intimacy of our restaurant along with the attentiveness of our staff is just a few of the reasons for making Tekarra Restaurant your reception choice.

Our dining room comfortably seats up to 80, however we have accommodated over 90 guests in the past. Our dinners are always plated to ensure the best quality of food; therefore we do not offer buffet service. We have a great patio that would be at your disposal and which we often use for a cocktail reception. Because of the size of our restaurant we cannot offer it as a backup wedding service location.

To give you an understanding of what we can offer you for your reception, let me give you a breakdown of our normal wedding reception.

Cocktail Hour: Upon arrival we like to have our beautiful patio set up with an outside bar serving wine and beer with plenty of seating as well as standing room. Should you plan on having photos after your reception, this is a great venue for your guests to wait for your arrival and mingle with drinks as well as passed canapés. We generally move inside for dinner service after about an hour to an hour and a half of outside enjoyment. Should the weather be uncooperative, we have a fair amount of covered space as well as 2 large umbrellas to offer cover and of course the cocktail hour can be inside as well.

Dinner Service: This is where we shine. For 3-5 courses we tantalize your guests with local, organic fine cuisine and attentive, charming service. Our passion for excellence allows only 2 breaks in service for speeches; before the salad course and after the main course.

Optional Dance: Most of our wedding receptions include a dance. We are legally allowed to be open and serve alcohol until 2am. However, that being said, the quiet hour of the hotel property is 11pm. In order to have a dance carry into the late evening, you would be required to book the rooms directly above the restaurant and should you choose to have a band or DJ or go until 2am, the cabins surrounding the restaurant would need to be booked as well. I will attach the lodge contact below.

Late Night Snack: Should you decide to host a dance till late, we find that a snack is a nice accompaniment. We generally offer a mini cheeseburger buffet, but have also had cheese and deli meat platters as well, with all the fixings.

The costs of weddings at Tekarra vary greatly due to size, menu selection and alcohol consumption. In order for us to close to the public we set a minimum charge based on the time of year as well as a room rental fee, both subject to 5% GST and 17% gratuity. The minimum sets a bar for total cost of food and alcohol and are as follows:
May: $6500 June: $6500 July: $7500 August: $7500 September: $7500 October: $6500
A larger wedding group will likely have costs above the minimum.
The $1000 room rental charge includes the room set-up and cleaning and the use and set up of our dance floor. In order to secure a date for your reception we require a $1000 deposit, refundable up to 4 months of your chosen date.

To better understand the cost and minimum please consider that our menus start at $50 per person for 3 courses and can reach $90 per person for wonderful 5 course dinners. Ultimately, the smaller the group, the more room you will have to budget within the minimum. The total alcohol cost changes based on the specific consumption of each group; however we have set drink prices and a large selection of wine to choose from. Our wines start at $29 per bottle and go as high as $150. Our beer and cocktails start at $6. If cost is an issue you can always switch to a cash bar once the minimum has been reached.
